Providing clean water for remote communities in Kenya

We are Rainworks, a small Oxfordshire-based charity that helps provide a clean, safe water supply for villages around Nakuru in Kenya's Rift Valley.

It's simple. The villagers raise enough money to pay for a third of the cost of a 15,000 litre water tank, and Rainworks funds the rest. The tanks collect and store rain water, a safe and reliable alternative to dirty river water which causes disease such as typhoid. The tanks also mean the women and children don't have to spend five hours a day collecting water.

The project is run in co-operation with Kenya Wildlife Services who provide logistical support.

So far we've installed fifty tanks in the village of Nganyoi and fifteen in a neighbouring village. With your help we hope to help fund over 100 more tanks in the villages in the next five years.
